September Grant of the Month

Awarded to: Matlock Film Society

Matlock Film Society Committee

Derbyshire Community Foundation is celebrating the launch of our new ‘Grant of the Month’ scheme. The scheme sees local community and voluntary groups receive recognition for outstanding work in the voluntary sector. The winner each month is chosen by the Foundation staff team and is awarded to a group who are really making a difference by tackling disadvantage, improving local life and bringing communities together.

The first winner and Grant of the Month for September is Matlock Film Society. They received £500 from the Foundation to run a weekend of film early this year and were delighted to be chosen. Matt Carr, Chairperson of the group, said “we couldn’t continue to bring films to the communities of Matlock if it wasn’t for the grant funding we have received for equipment and running costs”. He added “we are delighted to win Grant of the Month as it coincides with the commencement of our 2007/08 film season”.

Matlock Film Society have been running since 2003 and meet on the last Sunday of the month at the Fishpond Hotel, Matlock Bath. For a full schedule of films for 2007/08 please contact the committee on 01629 55596 or email matlockfilmsociety@yahoo.com.
